Floki is named after trickster god Loki by joke because Michael Hirst the writer liked it that way. But he is also named after the fantastic navigator and boat builder Flóki Vilgerðarson. 

In the first season we see how Floki is introduced to us and young Bjorn the son of Ragnar. We see how he develop boats and how he choose wood. He is also the healer of Ragnar during that season. 

We will see him in that knowledge again in season 2 but also he plays a betray game with King Horik and Ragnar. He starts to disguise Ragnar after a while and starts his play of betray we thought he would do that on Ragnar but it was a fouls play between the two friends. http://vikings.wikia.com/wiki/Floki

The real Flóki Vilgerðarson found Iceland as first Norsemen. His navigation was found with ravens. When the raven didn't return there was land ahead. He also went to the Shetland and Faroe Islands.

Is more a director then actor that is what he thinks of himself. In my opinion he is good at both. He is the more experimental one of the Skarsgård family almost every family member is actor. He has grew up with acting. He is more known in Sweden where he did plays like Hamlet. Lots of TV productions and shorts but after his part in Vikings and Kon-Tiki he is also known over the world.

Athelstan is a monk who turned from Christianity into the mythology world of the Vikings. He became a slave of Ragnar in the first season. In the second season he gets involved into a change from the Viking way into the Christianity again when he becomes the advisor of King Eckbert. We are not sure what is going to happen with him as character.

According to the history of the real Athelstan he is the one who fight every Viking out of England and then become King after all the Vikings are gone and there is a land to rule. He became the first king of England.

George Blagden

He is born 28 December 1989. He has played in Les Miserablé the film version but is better known for his role Athelstan in Vikings. He is an stage and film actor. He is English. It's here the Vikings Panel SDCC

Today the panel from SDCC was released by Vikings History Channel.
Finally we could see what happened to our beloved cast and crew.
The panel tell us little about season 3 actually not what we already knew.
The cast cheered at us the lovely fans of Vikings. With 2 million fans around the globe there was another message this week from Alexander Ludwig.

Also a spoiler? The message from Katheryn to Alexander (Bjorn) and Clive (Rollo) when they had a message and blamed the youngest son of Clive that the messages were baffled. #Likefatherlikeson. So is Rollo the dad of Bjorn instead of Ragnar?

Vikings boardgames announced

Today an announcement came from Catalyst Game Labs who has got liscences to make two boardgames from the TV series Vikings.

Jarl: The Vikings Tile Laying Game

The first game will be called: Jarl: The Vikings Tile Laying Game. Here you can fight between the characters. You can choose which character will join you in raids during a long winter period. Tiles will take you trough the board every step you take will take you to another tile. Tactic game. This game will come out at the end of the year.

Vikings: The Board Game

After Jarl: The Vikings Tile Laying Game. The second game Vikings: The Board Game will come out. It is a game for 2-5 players and will be based on the series. This Strategy game will let you go to the seer and let fulfill you different offers to him.

Kevin Durand let a light over his character the wanderer Vikings season 3 (update)

He will be there in three episodes of Vikings season 3. The character will be dark because we live in the dark ages of the Viking period of time. He doesn’t know if it will stay by the three episodes he hopes for more because he is a fan of the show. He told that he might be the cause of the dead of a main character. At least he was there when the character died.  He is still the wanderer and doesn't let loose anything else on his character. The wanderer could have every occupation like a poet or maybe something else. He is mysterious about the wanderer.

When I first read this article I was rather enthusiastic. I like Tolkien and would love to know more about this. I enrolled and started three weeks ago. Tomorrow will be the start of the fourth week. I watched every video class and played LOTR when I can. The only thing about this is that I am use to online gaming like puzzle or word gaming not role play gaming with a story.

When I started to play  LOTR in the first week I couldn’t find a thing in the whole game, I started off with the wrong foot and the wrong level and the wrong system group. Wrong character choice etc. I wasn’t able to contact the group and couldn’t find anything except a knife who I needed to destroy the captures of a person.

I am still in level 1 and not a thing further and it is kind of frustrated. The quiz that checks if you did the classes and read the sources given are going good but the game is my disaster. I am under experienced when it comes to this game. Free Course on Tolkien, LOTRO, and Online Gaming

Which Vikings Character will be dead halfway in the series just an beforehand conclusion based on what you see?

During the panel of Comic-Con it was announced that we will lose a beloved character in the serie Vikings. There were two of the main characters not at the panel this year.

Floki played by Gustaf Skarsgård and Athelstan played by George Blagden. If you watch the trailer you don’t find a direct answer.

If you look further there might be an answer to that into the trailer. In the trailer is less Athelstan and less Floki but Floki is there at the end. A sign that Athelstan will die?

On the other hand the seer tells us about “stones and bones, a river two shores, three sides” etc. If you take Floki who is a trickster and named after the trickster god Loki. There is a story in Loki’s history with a couple of things in it who reference to what the seer says.

When Loki was in his darker sinister form he insulted the gods and fled. He made a house with three or four doors so when the gods went out looking for him he could escape through the doors. (three sides) Loki’s children Vali turned into a wolf and Narfi was killed by Vali this was necessary for bones to bound Loki onto a rock (stones and bones). This would mean that Floki would be the one who is going to die or at least bound.(1)

Who dies we will know when we see the season but I will tell you in either way I wouldn’t like the idea of killing Floki nor Athelstan but as Clive said in the panel “everybody will die in the series some day because it is part of the history”. We know that but we love the characters so much that we are forced to believe that they couldn’t die at all.

There is a king who is going to die does that count as a beloved character maybe Eckbert? Or are we trapped in the idea of those getting killed and will it be Ragnar? The trailer also show us that Lagertha and Eckbert are going to bond? Would that means jelousy or will she marries Ragnar again?

What we do know for sure is that Rollo played by Clive Standen will be there in a fourth season if they keep track of the history of Rollo. “The raiding on Paris will continue if season 4 will be a go”says Michael Hirst.
